Greenwood Studio

On an old estate set in a scenic rural landscape, this new modern minimalist structure follows the simple form of its predecessor, which was a barn, to fulfill the client’s need for an office and a studio to house his collection of modern art. Exterior stucco cladding and a standing seam metal roof enclose the main interior volume. The main volume of the interior is an expansive open room vaulted to the full height of the building. An office loft accessed by a spiral stair, a small kitchenette, and spaciously comfortable “man’s” bathroom complete the interior spaces. To the west, the structure takes in wooded vistas through full building height over-scaled windows and doors, and it opens to the south to a modernist concrete and steel pergola which takes in views of river-bottom land along a meandering stream.
